  • Oh, if you're talking about whacking teenagers over the head then by all means, go for the maglite! Add one of those glass breaker end caps to it as well. ;o)

  • My pocket knife has a real nice "Skull Crusher" feature that I once considered using, but they ended up to be a cool group...they just thought I was some homeless guy until they saw how I was dressed, and I explained to them that there were no homeless living back there, and that the Police will often check the main trails on bike. Especially if they see cars in the parking lot. The park begins at the end of my back yard, so I don;t have that worry. And the cops know me.

  • As one other person mentioned, ditch the maglites. Way too much weight to be carrying when there are really lightweight options that will give you the same ammount of light. You don't have to spend a ton on a surefire or similar flashlight. I bought a Coleman Cree XR-C for less than $20 at Wally world that I am really impressed with.

  • I like the weight of a mag...in case I need to hit something, But I have a Leatherman SeracS3 as a primary, and a LED mini-mag that runs off AA's as a backup. I have run into some kids, doin kids-stuff in the woods late at night (I work 2nd shift and often hike at 1-4am) and I rather just whack one in the face, if need be then have to resort to other measures. I don't care what they are doing, and Im not going to tell the authorities. Some kids just get unruly when drunk or high.

  • A Fat, heavy Mag-light and a super-bright 120 lumen S3 to blind them works well. Maybe I should just take a beer with me and if I run into them, Just crack it open. LOL Ahhh...to be young and stupid again!

  • you need to try the KELTY RED WING OR PAWNEE 10 time better than the Maxpedition. You would love it, guaranteed

  • Any recommendations of video reviews? I have been interested in some Kelty gear.

  • I'm lookin at gettin this for my bail out bag, as well as a hiking backpack, and everything looks pretty good so far. You're review was pretty stellar, so thanks for that. One question though. A lot of back packs will feel really funky with a hydration system slipped into them, and it will cause the back pack to not "seat" properly on your body. Is that an issue with this?

  • good review

  • @darb1017 Your a funny man :)

Nice review- I just ordered mine in khaki :)

  • How much weight you carrying there... Looks like an awful lot. I think mine now weighs in at about 10kg with food. I think I counted 3 torches and 3 first aid kits :). Anyway good to see you are out there doing what we all love... Regardless of pack weight :)

  • hey if you want a inexpensive flashlight thats super bright get fenix or 4sevens ok

  • subtitles please!!!

    yo entiendo nada en ingles!!

    con suerte se lo basico!!

  • Would a walking stick work better for whacking? Thats what I always have used.
