Santa Cruz Big Trees and Pacific CF7 2641has just departed the Boardwalk and guides the Beach Train down Chestnut Street in Santa Cruz on July 10, 2011. The Santa Cruz Big Trees and Pacific Railway is headquartered out of the quaint little town of Felton, which is tucked away in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The SCBT&P operates on 7.4 miles of track between the Boardwalk and Felton. (Altogether, the SCBT&P owns 9.7 miles of track, the line stretches two miles north of Felton to Olympia). The SCBT&P uses two former Santa Fe CF7 locomotives for motive power on the line. Other than the summertime "Beach Train" which runs from the Boardwalk to Felton, the SCBT&P operates special trains such as the "Holiday Lights Train" which runs during Christmas time, and the "Starlight Dinner Train" which runs in July.
