This is a better quality recording of my 1st version of "The Hanging Tree" from the third book, Mockingjay, in the Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins.

The image used was stolen from urmyedwardcullen of Deviant Art and can be found at this link: http://urmyedwardcullen.deviantart.com/art/The-Hanging-Tree-Wallaper-191907563

Are you, are you
coming to the tree
where they strung up a man they say murdered three
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree

Are you, are you
coming to the tree
Where the dead man called out for his love to flee
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree

Are you, are you
coming to the tree
Where I told you to run so we'd both be free
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree

Are you, are you
coming to the tree
Wear a necklace of rope side by side with me
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree

  • you should totally do Rue's Lullaby!!! I love this version, it's so simplistic and full of emotion. I can totally picture Katniss singing this.

  • @PenguinPartyTime I have. It was the first song I did from the series.

  • I think the song wasn't suposed to be so slow. It's beautiful but not at all in the mood of the song no offense your voice is stunning

  • @captiolbreedbirdy I did another version of the song that is more upbeat. I did this slower version because when she sang it, she was sortof reflecting on her past and I imagined her being lost in that distant memory. Plus it is a dark song and it was sung during a dark time. the faster version I did was made to reflect the fact that young children would sing it (kinda like ring around the rosie, a song about the plague).

  • @musicalgal11 You find in insulting for people to share what they imagine the song to sound like? That seems a bit odd. I don't think anyone, including myself, has claimed that their version of the song was the "real" or "official" version. The fact of the matter is, there isn't a "real" version yet. I am really looking forward to what the "real" version will sound like, but until then, I let my imagination do the singing.
