Who would have thought that any level of whitewater could be found in southeastern Indiana? This section of the Flatrock River (shown here at approx. 350 cfs) is a 6.8 mile paddle. After the first couple miles of scenic flat water, a small creek enters in the from river right and you come to various ledges, some of which have surfable waves. Some are almost river wide. Many have good eddy service to try and give it a whirl. The whitewater section is probably only 2 miles. The last section of flat water feels like an eternity if you are in a hurry.

Be warned, the Flatrock can be rather shallow at certain levels and some of the surf waves have visible rocks less than 6 inches down. Take precautions: wear a helmet and PFD.

  • sorry... changed my name... I'm surprised you were able to pull off a roll in Flatrock. All the places I've been to are much too shallow. Nice video.

  • @coltsfan727 It wasn't the easiest roll...but that's why we wear helmets. Thanks!
