Paul Scholes at his best. IMO the best midfielder to ever grace the PL.

Also what can't be overlooked is the partnership Scholes and Carrick have, the understanding of eachother's games is brilliant and you can see how well we dominate possession. We could add a top midfielder into the fold but there's no guarantees a solid partnership will be formed. That I feel is the difference between a good midfield and a great one.

  • @Claymore2408

We should try an identify a good, dynamic sort of defensive-midfielder for the future.. I'd rather have a Carrick type than a de Jong/van Bommel, as combative and imposing as they can be, their passing is not on Carrick's level and I'm sure that'll get on fans' nerves more, at least it should do.

Someone like Wilshere. That's the defensive-midfielder of the future. I'm more than happy with Carrick for now though, he's closer to that type of player than most others.

I think Carrick is very, very similar to Busquets as is. And he plays in a two-man midfield.. Busquets is sharper, quicker with his pasing, he sees thinngs even faster than Carrick but then he does have two world class midfielders to work with. The movement at United up front and especially in the midfield is not on that level. Maybe if Cleverley comes back strong we will see a big impovement in that area.

  • @logybear86 Well we need some one like xabi alonso/busquets who can play the sweeper role and also do great passes. Carrick unfortunately for him can't provide that, he can play good supportive role but that's it.

  • @Claymore2408

Well he wasn't exactly the main culprit let's be fair, and he doesn't make that may mistakes, but obviously when he does they're highlighted more such is the nature of his role in the side. He's not a Scholes type I agree, he's more of a support midfielder, but we need a new talisman in the centre. Carrick I think deserves a lot of credit for the job he's doing in a two-man midfield often with tactically unaware players beside him.

  • @logybear86 He is a good player don't get me wrong but to replace some one like scholes no way...He makes far too many mistakes in recent UCL games and that's unacceptable for a team of united's calibre...Fergy should have bought a creative midfielder back in 2010 some one like Ozil/Gotze would have made a massive difference.

  • @Claymore2408

Nah not at all.. He's not an outstanding player that's for sure, but he is a good player. The kind of player you need in any top side - good all-round footballer, tactically he's supreme and he helps us get the best from our more talented players. I could go on and on about things he does very well but the point is he's far from a rubbish player. What makes you think he is?

  • @triplehhhmytimewwf

Substitute maybe, I'm certain the players started numbered 1 to 11.

  • @logybear86 carrick is rubbish mate...

  • @Francafu rooney has ginger hair? xDDD
