READ!!! UPDATE** If this doesn't work for you, there is a great PS3 fix guide that includes video tutorials, a detailed ebook with FULL COLOR pictures, access to a Private Members Area and forum, Easy to follow Step-By-Step Instruction Manual and 24/7 customer support and one-on-one help, with a real human, via email and TELEPHONE! This is a great next step instead of paying $200 to send it to Sony. I'll be honest, I am now promoting this product so if you decide to buy I will get a few pennies. I'm only promoting it after such a long time because I bought it myself and it is extremely helpful - I wish I had this when my first PS3 f*cked up on me. Woulda saved me buying a new console (if you've read the comments you should know that my video tut didn't fix it for me and I never claim it has, but, as you'll also see, I know it works in some cases) but if not, definitely check out this link. better off paying $37 and fixing it yourself than paying $200, losing your data and maybe even getting a refurbished replacement. Is your PS3 all of a sudden refusing to play your most beloved games?
Is it turning you into an angry, frustrated, weeping mess?
Try this little trick... It's a hidden system recovery menu that can scan your PS3 for corrupted files, attempt to repair them, and even restore your console to 'new off the shelf' settings...
If your PS3 is failing to load games and blu-ray, it could well be a dirty blu-ray lense (how to dismantle and clean a blu-ray lense can be found on youtube, just search 'PS3 games not loading') but it could also be a software problem! If you are on your last nerve and seconds away from sending your console off to Sony (or to whatever store you purchased warranty from), chances are your system will be wiped of all files anyway (whether they repair it, or send you a refurbished console) so why not try this method (if you didn't buy warranty, or it has run out - it could well save you £128 [$150] from sending it off for repair) worth the try.
It would be best to back-up what you can using a USB stick (store on your computer if it has low memory - but for game-saves you'll need to create a folder called 'PS3', and 'Saves' so your PS3 will recognise it). Even better if you have a large enough external hardrive (will need to be formatted to FAT32) because you can back-up everything and then load it back onto your system (all can be found in 'System Settings')
I genuinely hope this helps out most (if not all) of you who are having the same problem I had (I know from personal experience how frustrating it can be...and has anyone else noticed it was only after COD: MW2 and the 2nd update that came with it??? ) let me know if it works for you or not. I hope you enjoy.
Check out my other video's too, there's some how-to's on making potent wine easily at home, some funny painful video's of me and some guys from work (good for a laugh - we work in a workshop with POWER TOOLS!!!!) and a lot more 'whatever's on my mind at the time" video's so check out my channel.

Read the description for more info, but if this hasn't worked for you or you have other PS3 issues, check out the link in the description before you send it off to Sony for $200 or buy a new one. This product is fantastic and has helped me out with a few recent issues on my newer console. Give it a read.
