  • She is right, it has nothing to do with religion, it is cultural. She is much better than that Muslim hating liar Ayaan Hirsi Ali that gets paid to spread lies about Islam.

  • FGM (female circumcision?!) is a horror that should never happen to anyone!!! Much of the world is ignorant that this is even happening. We need to bring this to light in our churches and bring awareness and prayer for healing of this practice. God bless Waris for her great courage in this matter!

  • Imagine if mothers refused to have this done to their children - just on an individual basis, or if village women got together & acted collectively to refuse this barbarism. At one time Chinese mothers bound the feet of their daughters. What finally made them stop?

  • Waris Dirie is the definition of a role model; strong, beautiful and fearless. She has never given up neither on herself, neither on the world as she continues to fight against this horrific custom. she is a truly beautiful woman and I wish her luck for everything she fights for!

  • Waris Direie to wspaniała, cudowna kobieta , godna podziwu i naśladowania.

  • i'm reading her book desert flower it's amazing i would recommend it :)

  • @RadhaDaSilva Al Jazeera did very interesting piece on this search Everywoman FGM - Feb 08 Part 1. they had Dr. Nahid Toubia she explained the reasons behind why the practice is still goes on despite some big efforts to eradicate it. Mainly she touches upon the financial reasons, and how it gives women in the areas to negotiate their standing in those societies. if we understand these reasons we can come up with alternatives therefore eradicating this. Watch the interview if u have some time...

  • @RadhaDaSilva I agree with you but the point i was trying to make that the so called tradition continues on going on Not b/c its just a tradition but b/c there are complex financial reasons underlying this so called tradition. so its not just a tradition, in the sence it has been practiced for a long time and thats why it gets sustained. But b/c there are financial reasons underlying this tradition and they are very strong.so in order to change it we have understand this completely...

  • @dharmaatdawn nahh at one point you are right but its better to tell somebody that think FGM is good that it isnt GOOD and maybe some people will read it and think the same.

because i think its no way to say its good to do this to the womens because its a tradition..

this is something brutal and has nothing to do with a tradition its just a stupid thing that people made..

and everybody has to stand up and fight for his rights!

    god bless ya

  • @RadhaDaSilva you can come up with some ideas on how effectively eradicate this barbaric practise. only understanding the reasons behind this and coming up w ideas that educ. women and providing them with some way yo make a living we can eradicate the practice, if u serious about it, that is. this all takes a lot of work and recources and not just occasional moral outburst calling someone stupid. what are u doing to help the causes of u choice?
