i worked australia, carribean west indies, u.s.a, canada, indonesia pacific, africa infact all over the world multiple times on my antron a99 so he is talking pure rubbish the a99 is i repeat a damn good antenna and in many other ways too it takes the weather etc no probs your cheap aluminium job will last 5 mins and be bent like a boomerang in the first good wind.

rubbish a cheap 5/8 wave vertical will do better than an antron a 99 sorry that is not the case tried and tested the a99 is much better and i love the a99 what you mean no good for dx i have worked the world on an a99 no probs very good antenna.

I am not entirely QRM free. There is some swine in the street that gives me S5 of crap through out HF when they're cooking their tea in the afternoon. Must be a buggered microwave they own or something weird.

Personally i would put an IMAX 2000 up. 1/2 wave antennas are not a lot of good (very basic) and do not offer any real gain, and the figures on an A99 sales brochure are just plain LIES. if you want dx a cheap aluminium 5/8 wave will work better than a A99 and cost lots less.

Does me perfectly fine to be honest. Not sure if I could get away with a bigger home base antenna. Let's put it this way, worked all of Europe including Greece and Cyprus without a hitch last year with standard rig power so it must be doing something right,,,
