Here is one of those wonderful Trafalgar Square Lions (designed by Sir Edwin Landseer and erected in 1867) just in front of King Charles the First on horseback. The statue that you can see here is taken to be on the spot of the actual centre of London. Measurements are taken from that spot.
Behind King Charles is the Trafalgar Theatre where Brian Rix put on numbers of 'farce' plays in the 1950's 1960's. And then along the way from this 'Whitehall Theatre' come Trafalgar Theatre where Lenny Henry is playing Othello at present - some would say 'successfully' is 10 Downing Street, Westminster Abbey and Big Ben. Behind the theatre building can just be seen the top of the Admiralty which keeps track of all the ships in the British Navy.
