American media has constitutional rights to lie to the American people as it is protected by the 1st Amendment.
In 2003 an Appellate Court of Florida’s Second District ruled for Fox News that their right to distort the truth was protected by the Constitution as the Federal Communications Commission’s policy against media distortion does not have the weight of the law to support it.

@sugarpuddin88 Health care now days, just give people drugs. So the drug companies make more money. They don't care about curing or fixing anything. That is not profitable.

Here in the U.K. we are lead to believe that the 4th estate, the press, is supposed to act as an agent of information and a catalyst for informed debate. Quite clearly, as you point out, a lot of them serve any master that holds the shilling.
