To all those interested, the Chieftain mk 11 (the mbt we had before challenger 1) had (togs) the thermal imaging system & just as an aside I thought you might like to know, we also had a laser rangefinder in the 1970s on chieftain, prior to that, you had a Browning .50 'ranging' gun to bracket the target before firing the big 'un. 'Being an ex-chieftain crewman I know this for a FACT...!

@ltcurry lol this is the Challenger 1 and this video is about 25yrs old, its the tank we used prior to the current Challenger 2.

1] There is no BEST tank in the world. The crew always makes the difference.
2] Chobham armour was developed in the UK & fitted to ATDU Chllenger 1's but first service use was by M1 Abrams.

So if a vehicle has a greater level of survivability and superior firepower compared to other MBT's, its not the best? Chobham was used on the CR1, but not the M1, it used a composite armour called Burlington, both same principals but different ceramic/material mix.
