This 165" and 43# Warbird was built by Carl Bachhuber. Jeff Quesenberry purchased it in 2001.
Shortly after this video was made, it crashed at Bomber Field in Texas after two engines, on one wing, failed during take off. The resulting crash was inevitable.

  • do you still have the airplane? think the B24 has alot more character than the -17 ...

  • I had a chance to walk through the real "The Dragon And Its Tail" Liberator awhile back; and it's an errie feeling; trying to nail a Luftwaffe fighter without accidently hitting the side rudder...

60-Minutes' Andy Rooney said it best: "There are many advantages the B-24 has over the B-17. But, to fly a bombing mission over Germany, I'd take the B-17!"

  • Whoever's flying that Liberator is an awesome pilot; the real airplane is tough enough to fly, but to control that rc model at acrosswind...not too shabby!!!

  • tnx :-)

  • This had a vinyl mylar type adhesive back material, not sure what it was called as I did not build the plane. Most people use Flite Metal on this type of finish.

  • It wasn't tail heavy, as it had been flying for about 7 years before I bought it. It was, hoever, a 15 mph crosswind which made it difficult to fly with all of that side area.

  • hi first of all compliments for the beautiful airplane. Just a question what material do you use for such beutiful silve surfaces. Tnx :-)

  • It looked like it was sort of tail heavy.

  • Nice plane mate,i live in australia,

how can i get my hands on a kit?????

    Thanks again nice ww2 bomber
