Um, yes he was, only mind-melded with Kollos. The mind that spoke this was part Kollos, part Spock. And which part do you think had read Byron and thought of Uhura as beautiful, and called her that right after he called Kirk his captain and best friend, and McCoy another long-time acquaintance? Spock, or a Medusan who had never met these people before, and had no knowledge of human body and language? Come on! Kollos' warm personality only helped express what Spock felt.

Yep. Tahnk God times are changing somewhat. No wonder Leonard Nimoy said he "was jealous" when watching the new Spock/Uhura love scenes because he never got to do what they were.

ANNYYYYYYWAYS! I hate when people are like that the spock an uhrua pairing didn't make sense cuz it is infact something that gene wanted to do but coudn't because of the racial climate and thier are plently of little clues that I say when I watched b4 seeing the 2009 version. like in charlie x, who mourns adonis, man trap and a bunch other including a deleted scene where spock totally hits on her in elanis of troyus...yes I got that nerd rage lol

well there were other spock/uhura moments in TOS, but there was also kirk/uhura sulu/uhura chekov/uhura, and in the movies, scotty/uhura. Uhura suffered from being the only lead female and therefore ended up in a lot of shiptease moments with most of the male crew. I kind of like that she has a canon boyfriend in the new movie, but i felt that spock was a bit distant. Maybe it will get better.

*Twitch twitch* AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is NOT Spock don't you get it!? There is an alien form possessing part of Spock's mind. It is the Alien inside Spock's mind that is attracted to her. NOT Spock. In fact if you watched the motion pictures, you will find that Uhura was attracted to Scotty. Why they are paired in that new lame movie I don't know.

@sondano This is truth. I hate to crap on pairings, but if you watch (and pay attention) to TOS, you'll see that a) Spock is currently inhabited by an alien and b) Spock and Uhura were not a thing. Ever. From interviews I've read, Nimoy seemed to really dislike it when Spock was written to throw himself all over women (he was supposed to make out with the Rom. Commander, but Nimoy vetoed it in favor of hand kissing). It's just not the nature of Spock, sry dudes.
