How much rain can the units take? I currently own a colorado 3 IP66 and just want to know if it could withstand a heavy downpour and be outside in the elements for a month during winter? I'm currently in California so temperatures dip down to low 30's at the very worst and it can rain for 3-4 days periodically, sometimes heavily. Also do you know how the unit reacts to direct sunlight and heat? In the summer it can get over 100 degrees. What kind of precautions should I take?

Wow I cannot believe you guys did this to a 1000 dollar light. Wish I could afford just one of those.

If you've got units around just for dunking in water, you should just send me a few...LOL. Impressive, though I bet it would void the warranty...LOL.
we had a customer leave a bunch of them IN blocks of ice at -40 deg f for around a month at the Ice Alaska Ice sculpting contest last year. the only problem they had was the cables would freeze to the ground, so when they moved them you had to first defrost the cables. the units all survived.
