This EU official seems to bend over backwards to keep from criticizing China. The Chinese official dismisses any Chinese complicity on Darfur and any notion of linking Darfur with the Beijing Olympics.

I think that it is a good thing that China is doing in Africa, so long as it remain a true friend, unlike other countries that constantly steals from Africa. I also think other countries view China as a threat to their free-for-all in Africa. The African people are extrremely smart, and they will determine if the Chinese are honest, and real friends, unlike the west, and other countries. Africa need

a real friend. God Bless Africa.

@TheNaturalSelf China is out to take care of China...to get the resources it needs to help its economy grow. It will do what it needs to to get those resources. That's fair, I suppose. But let no one fool themselves into thinking that China wants to help Africa.

The best thing that can happen is for African nations to become more and more democratic. That way the people of Africa and not some dictators and their clans will decide what happens to African resources and gain the benefit from them.

I agree with you however, Africa is outside those with strong economic interests. In the west is mostly defined in racial terms and if anything goes wrong. Its always put down to race which is not true, inter ethnic violence for exmaple. Many comments talk about it as an African problem without mentioning places, like the Balkens,Chechnya, or even Iraq. I'm afraid since the 16Th most europeans can't get off the lie about superior races and inferior races.

@kingzula I want whatever support you have for your assertions. How did Western exploitation of Africa start? By Westerners exploiting the selfishness and greed of some Africans at the expense of others--precisely what China is doing today. Regardless of the past, Africans should not ignore voices of Westerners who point up the parallel.

@saulpaulus so what do you want websites?. yes they have obligations to their people so if this fail whether they fail with Chinese help or Western help they will only have themselves to blame. the Africans and the Chinese have one thing in common they were both exploited by the West over the last 500yrs. whether this alliance will be a true partnership or another case of exploitation is yet to be determined. but the Africans shouldn't care what the West think

@kingzula Not sure who tarpaulins is. Referring someone to a search engine is not documenting a claim. The immigration claim stands undocumented as does any suggestion that China is offering "a better deal" or is "doing better" than the West.
