Take the mid-1900s, when the goverment was barely involved in the economy. What happened? People recklessly risked their lives in the stock market. They burrowed far more than they were able to pay back; The result? The great depression took place and tens of millions of Americans lost their jobs; Endless businesses bankrupted; Hunger and misery were prevalent.

So what BillyBob is saying is that we naïve Californians need more government to control our lives(with prop87)because without government controlling our energy usage, we'd destroy the planet all by ourselves. No. No more government telling us what to do.

Not you but the oil companies. And yes let the government tell those bastards what to do. Or rather what not to do. Otherwise who will? You?

The oil companies are not the evil the news media and politicians bring them out to be. Besides, who is it that helps themselves to a portion of your paycheck without asking? Inviting larger government into our lives will ensure misery. Let the free market go, and prices will drop on everything, clean air technology will flourish.

goverment is not as evil as u think; Lack of goverment is not such a paradise as you may imagine.
Take the later 19th century, when people like John D. Rockefeller became a monopoly squeezing every drop of blood out of his employees. That was the time when 4 yr olds worked day and night as chimmey sweepers and 6yr olds working in mine fields. That was when the American people needed rescue, from the goverment.

The Progressive Era began as president Theodore Roosevelt launched the Square Deal. Children were removed from the workplace and put into schools. Minimum wage was established and middle class families were able to afford decent living. Local bosses were abolished and America flourished.
