I fixed my exhaust because of an exhaust leak where the headers meet the block. I put on new gaskets, sanded the old bbk headers, painted them with a flat black VHT paint, and reinstalled them. They run into a 3in Y pipe which goes to a 2 1/2x28in thrush glass pack with no cats. THe exhaust is way to quite now, i might have to drill a couple holes in the headers, to get that old growl back, haha.

The motor is an all stock 351w (5.8l) with 160,000 miles and a K&N intake system.

Any questions feel free to ask.

  • rip that fucking Y pipe off and true dual it all the way out the back

  • @KLaughery18, would love to especially with the new 5.8 i have in the works but theres no room for the H with the drive shaft angle and where the transfer is in relation to the frame. was actually just looking at how i couls squeeze an H pipe in there but i dont think i can.

  • @123ewq put true duals on my 88' 5.0.. should be the same setup. heart throb makes a kit. NO h or x pipe but im sure you can custom fab some up.. kit is cheap, doesnt come with mufflers so throw a cross over witha nice set of flowmasters all well under 400$

  • @LegendMuscle, thanks im on there site now and i see they have kits for 3" headers which is what i got, i'm just wonderin where you bought your kit or if you have a site for it pm me because i dont see anythin for 302 or 351w, f150, f250 or f350's.

  • how did you put that filter on your truck w/o using the crankcase breather tube?

  • @TempleOfDogg, wish i could tell ya but the previous owner put it on, he also removed most of the smog junk.

  • @123ewq i have true duals on my '88 F250 4x4. its easy to do just run them out of the side in front of the tires instead of the rear.

  • thats what my 86 351w sounds like with nothing but crossover and cat lol

  • i would custom fab something to get rid of the Y pipe and run true duals.... you get that "snort" to it that way... i also had an H pipe between the pipes and two glasspacks. on my NEW (87) truck i cheaped out and went with the Y pipe and added a glasspack but its just not the same as duals and thats WITH a cam in it

  • love the truck, looks just like my ol jewl

  • @KLaughery18 then it sounds like a helicoptor...

  • i just added a glass pack working on finishing the exhaust system going to become a full time camper

  • also Try extending your exhaust piping to rear end so u can get more exhaust sound out instead of engine

  • did you paint the truck your self?
