Mayor Rudy Clay Mission to China May, 2008

Gary is going global. In May, Mayor Clay led a delegation of Gary business and educational leaders to China to aggressively market Gary to Chinese manufacturers and government officials as a great place to do business.
Gary is located in the geographic heart of the United States where 65% of the nation's markets can be reached in a single day by truck. Chinese manufacturers are now establishing company owned warehouses and distribution centers in the United States. Mayor Clay met with Chinese manufacturers to encourage them establish their logistics operations in Gary and create local jobs.
