Govt Mule @ Denver Mile High Music Festival 2009-07-19
Beautifully Broken
All day Sunday @ Mile High Fest, the sun was blazing in a clear blue sky, dotted by several puffy clouds.
Just as the stage was being set for the Mule, a thin cloud coverage began to build. I was totally relieved, thinking 'our boys' don't have to get burned to a crisp or go blind staring straight into the sun. Well that cloud coverage began to build. . and build . . .
Once again it was as if the Rock Gods (aka Gov't Mule) summoned the elements, this time they successfully handled and maneuvered them once they arrived.
Like sailing a ship on dry land, the Mule literally sailed that stage right through the storm in the distance, cutting through the clouds and sky, resulting in the sun gently filtering on the audience.
As the storm is passing overhead, check out how the lighting rigs were swinging like trapezes. I just kept thinking to myself "Please don't take our hero out like Curtis Mayfield" . . . the Wind Gods spared the band, but not without the boys themselves howlin back and blowin OUR collective asses away.
