The death of Taliban commander Mullah Dudallah has scored a major victory for US and NATO forces in Afghanistan, while the House Committee on Foreign Affairs approved H.R. 2446, the Afghanistan Freedom and Security Support Act (AFSSA), authorizing $1.6 billion per year over the next three years for development, economic and security assistance programs in Afghanistan. However, these successes are set against the backdrop of a deteriorating political and security environment -- with the steady rise of suicide attacks along with the expected growth of poppy cultivation outdistancing last year's record numbers. And the rash of civilian casualties in the past month, coupled with the recent killing of three German soldiers, threaten Afghanistan's political stability and NATO's cohesion.
In a rare public address to the Washington policy community, Afghan Ambassador Said T. Jawad addressed the unfolding events and U.S. policy toward Afghanistan at this New America event. Ambassador Jawad discussed the current challenges in state-building and gave an overall briefing on the state of security and reconstruction. Senior Fellow and CNN Terrorism Analyst Peter Bergen moderated the subsequent question-and-answer session.

Honestly the westernerers have not a fucking clue what are the ground realities in far off lands.
They ship out their young kids in uniform for political agendas.
Do you remember the saying of a head of state to suggest, why people don't eat cake, if they have no bread due to drought?

I absolutely agree with you but there are also other interests for the west too.Why do you think west did not allow the ex king to be the candidate for the luya jarga, I would be glad if you could answer this question.

NATO/ISAF have no interest in rebuilding Afghanistan, they want presence to keep eye on arse of USSR and China.
Afghan rebuilding is not possible until Afghanis don't embrace each other, there is no solution without Talebans.
External actors in Afghan war theater have to realize that, sooner the better.

Afghanistan land locked country had interest of USSR and America for their own interests.
End of the day,it will be the own inspiration of Afghanis to come to truce among them selves and work together for well being of Afghanistan.
Pashtoons,Durry's and Uzbek's shouldn't be overstepping each other for their own benefit.

Afghanistan land locked geography was center of culture and traditional osmosis for neighbor countries.Divided between classes of haves and havenots, didn't interfere with the social&cultural practices.
Alas than came the interests of USSR and America due to its strategic location.
USSR invasion sent established and well to do families in exile,Russian retreat left Afghanistan, with no recognition of sacrifices of Afghanis to have suffered due to cold WAR.
American's not there to rebuildFuck'em.

It is not who Taliban were or what they did. Surely conservative and fanatic westerners never want Afghans to have an Afghan state. Dictating the ex-king Zaher Shah to not to be candidate for Luya jarga was the proof of their hostility towards Afghanistan.

Taleban decision making was badly influenced by Alqaida, documented evidence is jirga before Banian destruction of Budha 50 M High statue.
Taliban way of Govt was based on franchising local people. They had good control on eradication of Narcotics & prostitution.
From early 90s there were UNSC resolutions pending for help from other governments for help/rebuilding infrastructure. Why Talibans deserved Bombing and guns, rather than help and support to over come their short comings?

The Pako journalist asks a very smart and correct question from the Jawed, but he skipped it: watch it from 33:30 onwards.
