Today , ( july 1 2009 ) a new Icelandic Coast Guard plane landed for the first time in Iceland.
This is a DASH 8 q 300 - type, and with all the neccesary equipment that a coast guard plane should have.
Two coast guard helicopter came in formation with the new plane.
Then after landing there where speaches at Icelandic Coast GUard HQ.
Before this, the coast used for the last 32 years, a Fokker 27 .
So it was about ti More..me to get a new plane for the Icelandic coast guard.
I will reply later today though, because there are some excellent, fascinating points you put into your messages as always!
Oh yes, let's not forget Iceland and Sweden had left hand driving...Not sure why though, I don't even understand why they switched to driving on the right? Was it to do with the other Nordic countries?
Thanks very much! By the way, I have a radio show at a small radio station, I am thinking of doing an "Icelandic special" or a report of some kind.
Best wishes!

Hi Einar, just to let you know, I'm about to send you a few replies haha, I have kind of fallen back on Youtube after uploading a few videos and I have taken it a bit for granted ha.
I can't remember, but it was either Iceland or the Faroe Islands, but there are loads of British armed forces trucks, about 200-300 left there (including right hand drive!). It was probably the Faroes since the Brits were based there to protect the Faroese and I should imagine Iceland too, despite being neutral.

Don't forget Iceland is/was in Iraq/Afghanistan too, the United Kingdom is no longer serving in Iraq now though but you were as much a part of it as we were, albeit, you [Iceland] was as a part of NATO.

Tundrasheep,
Why do the USA and UK continue to kill Iraqis and Afghans? (I assume you are from either nation)
-They do it in a pathetic way to hold on to colonial opression.
-It is also to maintain easily duped "governments" in place that abide their will. Therefore, maintaining control over oil and other resources.
Please, before you start cleaning the world, take out your own trash.
And if you check out the numbers, the US kills most whale in tonnes each year by tuna nets.

Why does Iceland continue to kill whales?
-They do it in a pathetic attempt to hold onto the past so that they can continue to identify with their bloody legacy of whaling.
-It is a blood sport to them and a way of indulging in the sadistic pleasure of killing whales and thumbing their noses at other nations.
-Killing whales is the pursuit of little people with small minds with a lust to destroy creatures more intelligent and more beautiful than themselves.
