London 2012 Logo in 7.58 minutes

The logo for the London 2012 Olympics cost £400,000. Here is a video of me recreating the logo in 7.58 minutes. That works out at £478.46 per second. Do you think it was worth it ?

Edit: Further comment to clear a few misconceptions.

The program used in the video is a modified version of GIMP. The reason it was not done in a vector based program such as Illustrator or Draw is that I do not have access to those programs on my computer. If I had done the video at college, Draw would have been a better choice, however as the video was made only to prove a point, GIMP was used.

Many people have pointed out that the money isn't just spent on the logo design, that it was for research. Obviously not, or if so money wasted as one second into research you would find that people hated it.

Another thing I would like to add is that I know that it is not how quickly a logo can be recreated that determines how good it is, this video was made mainly to disband the belief that some people who do not know anything about graphic design held, that the logo must be "more complicated than it looks" and that somehow, the hefty pricetag was justified by the complexity of production.

how the fuck can 2012 logo cost 400,000. so it took an artist or consultant on say (an overestimate) £100k per year full time 5 days a week, 48 weeks in the year and 4 whole years later to come up with this bollox. Looks like some cunt in that advertising company has got a brother or father in law who is part of the olympic committee dishing out cash to some thick fuck who gave his 13yr old child 15mins to draw some crap up. 400 fucking grand

I think you are a disgrace. Of course it will take you 10 mins to copy it... I could copy the Nike/Adidas/Umbro/ any brand logo in the world in that time does that mean they are all bad designs.
