This presentation is a snapshot of the seminar/workshop 'Walking Between Worlds - working effectively with LGBT people from faith backgrounds. http://lgbttraining.blogspot.com/p/community-training.html

LGBT people of faith and religion exist in/or have experienced two worlds; often intensely opposed to each other. They experience the usual issues of resolving their sexuality, coming out, finding their place in the community and learning what it means to live authentically in a predominately straight world. However, they often experience these with greater intensity and have additional issues to deal with.

  • thanks .....for the comment. Yes it is a problem here in Australia and many other western countries where homosexuality has a degree of acceptance. In other cultures people wouldn't even think of coming out. We have a program here called Wear it Purple which raises awareness about the issue

  • Great video. I was wondering if bullying in schools of LGBT kids is a problem in Australia like it has been in the states, where just about every week there is a story about another LGBT young person who has decided to end their life because they have been bullied and cannot take it anymore.
