Crash your plane (like me) and think it's ready for the trash can? Witness the actual crash, repair process and first flight after I rebuild my smashed up plane. This video might help you give more life to your crashed foam planes, even after major body damage is sustained. This process works great on foam EDF jets as well.

This plane is the Art-Tech Wingtiger found at bananahobby.com. I modified it with a brushless power system from Grayson Hobby, although I see you can now purchase it with a brushless setup direct from banana hobby. For other How To videos, check out rcsuperpowers on youtube.

  • Could you help me, please could you tell me the length of the Nose Landing Gear, and the width of the Metal Nose Landing gear (Metal bit) ??

    Thanks in advance

    P.S Good video

  • @TheFlightLog The strut? I think it's something like 4mm wire and probably 4" or so high? It's the same as the rear landing gear.

  • @mdamttc199 Thanks, how strong is the nose gear 'strut' ??

    Cheers again

  • @TheFlightLog It's pretty stiff. I don't know how you'd expect me to measure that.

  • can a hair dryer do the same job as hot water...i know i would have to be carefull not to melt the foam but i have a wot 4 foame and it quite large to fit under the tap..cheers

    antony

  • @dayshaddow I don't think it would do as good of a job.

  • Excellent video! I can't wait to fix the plane the plane that I was so upset for breaking. Thanks again!

  • Thank you for posting this video. Crashed both my radian glider and my supercub several times and because of this video, I now repair them successfully no matter how hard the crash. I started out doing it your with hot glue and wooden dowels like you do, but over time I switched to styrofoam glue (The purple tube at Michael's stores in the U.S.) and wooden toothpicks.

  • @mdamttc199 Noo, i didnt mean measure the strength of the wheel strut :D

I'm thinking of using this nosewheel on another model, but need to know the exact measurements and how strong it is, so i can decide upon whether to buy it.

    Cheers

  • Good video. Newbie flyer needs to repair cracked foam wings from his first flight ever. Sopwith Camel Pup looked so nice before disaster. after rebuilding engine mount, I will glue ctacks and breaks in thin lower wing. I guess I should consider fortifying it with some carbon fiber tape? Thanks again for sharing this information. Do you have a hot wire cutter because you like sculpting or have to do a lot of repairs? You definately seem experienced .

  • Just wanted to say thanks for posting this video, it helped me out alot with repairing my EPS p-51 that had massive damage to it.Shes almost done but, shes also got a ton of mods on her too.Ill be posting a video of how to on here as well about some repair and some modifications.
