Beautiful car, but silly song! Typical mentality of the era--self-righteousness mixed with resentment and self-pity. Look at the torque of that 400 rock the car! The best cars GM ever made, then they squandered it all. How much is the Pontiac?

@StreetsideClassics Well it's a beautiful car and worth every dollar! It's not that the song is silly--it's the silly mentality that came into being at that time, which was when I started working. The stupidity of the hippies in their filthy clothes and long hair--the people I worked for wouldn't have hired such people. I worked there for 30 years and am now retired. The hippies was the most self-destructive generation ever born.

@NDrLoR HAHAHAHA I love it! Well enjoy retirement. They might have been, however, I believe that the are some much younger generations that will be more destructive but we'll see in time. The new generation that seldom works hard for anything but is handed everything. I grew up on the farm, no slacking there. You work or you do not eat....everyone else will eat but you won't.

@TheFRiNgEguitars ...through a 2.41 final drive that will allow the engine to loaf along about 1,900 RPM at 70 MPH. Those cars were built by engineers--the cars from the early 70's on were built by bean counters.

@NDrLoR Absolutely right about the torque of that 400 engine! And I presume that it's coupled to a turbo hydramatic 400 trans which will hook all that twisting torque to the pavement.

I like the song, although I was never a hippie, never did drugs, never agreed with the logic that being high was "better". I've been a guitarist all my life, and have worked hard, and deserved to have my meals. "Signs" makes a liberal statement of the era, that a person should not be condemned by their appearance, and that signs are metaphors of unquestionable authority which should be questioned. This roomy Pontiac will liberate the mind and soul! (better than drugs)
