PlusAP Campaign MinuteAP Campaign MinuteThe Associated PressHere's the latest from the campaign trail for Thursday July 10th: Obama, Clinton together in New York; McCain distances from Gramm comments; McCain best fundraising month; Obama accepts Jackson apology. This is AP campaign minute: There's new signs of unity between democrats Barack Obama and Hilary Rodham Clinton. The two appeared at a breakfast fundraiser again this morning in New York. Obama attacked republican John McCain over his opposition to an equal-pay Senate bill, and his abortion-rights objections. It was the first in a series of events Thursday aimed at women voters. Republican John McCain is distancing himself from an economic adviser who dubbed the United States "a nation of whiners" in a "mental recession." McCain told reporters in Belleville, Michigan that he strongly disagreed with Phil Gramm's remarks. The Arizona senator said a person who just lost a job "isn't suffering from a mental recession." Meantime, Mccain is enjoying his best fundraising of the year. He raised more than 22-million in June for his presidential bid. He now has nearly 27-million cash on hand. And Obama appears to be shrugging off an off-color, off-camera comment by Reverend Jesse Jackson. Jackson made the remark during a break for a Fox News program last Sunday. He has since apologized, and Obama says, he accepts. ___ ___, The Associated Press, with AP Campaign minute.
