  • I only know the book which is called "The yellow bird" in germany. Unfortunately I didn't saw the movie yet. Is the movie as good as the book?

  • @0EyeSiGHT I read the book too. In many ways the film is better. Even more beautiful and bittersweet.

  • Is this movie available on You Tube? I saw it on HBO back in the 1990s. That was the saddest ending I ever saw.

  • @Sheri451 I don't think so but Feature Films For Families website sells it and you can probably get it on Amazon too.

its not just sadness its pure agony the main theme of the story is to somehow safe naomi and bring her back. Now i know that sometimes people are psychialy hurt beyond any salvation, but I just dont think that THIS should the point of the story.... that naomi's soul is JUST totaly lost and all hope was just destroyed by some idiot... i dont call this sad i call it cynical. And I loverd the novel but after the end I just felt bad and in my eyes it was pointless...

  • @Streuselsturm Why should a coming-of-age story in a realistic setting not have any sadness?

  • wo ist der komplette film?

  • You can find copies of this on Ebay. I bought on on VHS. Great film. One of my favorites.

  • Thank you for this... I first read the book 8 years ago, when I was in middle school (in Italy it's called Amici, which means Friends) and then I decided to read it again probably for the third or fourth time in these last few days. I still don't accept the conclusion, but I guess that's what makes the story real, after all... I would love to see the movie. Do you think it's possible to download it somewhere?

  • in never got why the book had to have such a bad ending ... i dont get the purpose of it exspecially considering its a childrens book and not supposed to make you just sad. I prefer the film because at least there is SOME hope left int the ending.

  • Dawg I review music & I love dis book
