Look up battle of Wanat. Some dickhead at command put 48 guys in a FOB in a valley with highground all around. They always had eyes on them (Drones) but pull the Drones off to help out somewhere over an hour away. Somehow when the Taliban attacked they had no eyes or air support watching there back and ended with 9 US Servicemen dead and 27 wounded. The SHTF after and there was a big investigation and someone at command was suppose to get there arse kicked but still waiting too

Does anyone here even know where this happened? It was Afghanistan, Kunar province. I am part Chosen company. You fight over 200 guys who have the high ground with only a platoon and half a small COP built. The CAS came in pretty late.

Over 200 Taliban attacked in the darkness against about 48 US troops, in a tiny outpost. Hardly a "few guys" And you dumb Aussies are almost as bad as the British at remembering which wars you were involved in. Namely this one. And the Iraqi Army as the top dogs in the Middle East, and twice the US completely
