WRC 2009 Hirvonen Jump @ Rally Ireland SS1

Mikko Hirvonen, WRC 2009 Rally Ireland in action on day 1 of the World Rally Championships.

Here Mikko can be seen flat out on stage SS1 in the early morning (08:20) just as the sun was coming up, taking to the air and entertaining the crowd.The long walk to this jump was worth the soaking in the downpour!! :)

Mikko later described in a TV interview as "taking it easy" on the morning run.

Cavan stage was SS2, this was SS1 which was earlier.

does any one know if wrc 09 stages are the same as wrc 07 stages. we spent fking ages tryin to find a good spot yesterday after pissin about tryin to just find where the stages where. just so i know for next year if its on again, thanks

Trick is to up the day before it starts and drive some of the stages after shakedown and find where the good jumps are in relation to where you have to leave the car and walk into the stage on the morning/afternoon of the actual live stage.

no, he must have lost them later on I think, although something small may have come off the car when he landed here!

I was at that very same spot where this video was shot from.Hirvonen was the only driver on the two stages, SS 1 and SS 4 to take this jump without easing before the third and biggest jump.He's the man!!
