The 3rd OVA was a seriously unnecessary addition to a seemingly complete series. Sure the 2nd OVA left off with some loose ends, but this 3rd part was far beyond complicated and way too philosophical to be connected to the first two. It's also a shame that Petrea Burchard quit the voice acting business. Her voice was unique and very recognizable. As avid of a Tenchi fan as I am, I think that it should have ended after ep. 26 of Tokyo. You can only regurgitate the same characters so many times.

The last 2 episodes were awesome though imo and much thought was put into them. But yeah if it weren't for them I would've agreed with you. I thought the character Kagato was gone forever since season 1 then after 10 years later they decided to pull a female side of him right out of nowhere.
