Keith Vaz said it "raised questions about judgement" and added: "I don't think this is good from such a senior member of the Metropolitan Police."
Former Shadow Home Secretary David Davis was not impressed with a previous police reaction they did not enough staff to investigate the hacking claims.

It's a massive irony that smug crook Vaz is chairing a select committee. He has tried to pervert the course of justice on at least 3 occasions, once using his committee's headed note paper to write to a judge to try to get the case against a bent lawyer friend dropped. He was also suspended from the House for lying to the police, advised fraudster Nahdmi Auchi on how to evade extradition and ducked investigation into his role in obtaining passports for the Hinduja brothers by feigning illness.
