UNDP is assisting the Government of Macedonia to strengthen the System for Crisis Management and promote the multifaceted human development approach, by further developing national capacities for identifying potential crises, implementing appropriate preventive measures and ensuring effective and timely response to various natural and man-made emergency situations. This type of support is seen as a crucial priority for enhancing human development and improving the overall desaster management capacity of the country.
Project objective by 1) reviewing the effectiveness of the Crisis Management System: 2) increasing the capacities of the Crisis Management System and formulation of a National Crisis Management Plan; 3) improving hazard monitoring capacities and design of an early warning system; 4) increasing capacities and resilience of local authorities, communities and particularly vulnerable groups in high-risk areas; and 5) public education and awareness.
