Iran Test-Fires Missiles as the West Prepares to Give Ultimatum

Iran test-fired two short-range missiles and tried out a multiple-missile launcher for the first time during military drills in the Iranian desert on Sunday, according to Iranian state-run Press TV. The news came as President Obama prepares for the first direct diplomatic meeting with Iran in 30 years, which will be held in Geneva on Thursday. After Iran's revelation to the IAEA last week that it is developing another nuclear enrichment site, the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Russia, and China will insist at the talks that Iran allow immediate and unrestricted access to the plant. The Washington Post suggests Iran will be given till the end of the year before the U.S. pushes for sanctions against the country, while other reports indicate the Obama administration will insist on compliance within a matter of weeks. In an interview this morning, Defense Secretary Robert Gates will tell ABC he believes Iran intends to have nuclear weapons.
