Red Rum was a marvellous horse, but the great horse in this race was called Crisp. Anyone who knows anything about horse racing will confirm that.

Crisp was 23lb heavier and look how far he was beat. He was a better horse but Red Rum was well handicapped. I think it was at Doncaster the next season the 2 of them raced off level weights in Crisp's last race, Crisp won by a good 10 lengths.

Lets not forget Crisp won a Queen Mother Champion Chase!!! And then ran like this with top weight giving 23lbs to a 3 times grand national winner!!! Very underrated horse.

It reminds me why I hated the National as a kid, seeing them horses getting thrashed and run to destruction seemed cruel beyond belief.. Red Rum though gives me a lump in my throat at the thought of him racing.Part of childhood round here

Red Rum the best race horse ever. My dad worked for Ginger many many years ago, from stable boy to a few small races as to why I love horses. This is the best race of all time. Nobody would ever forget Red Rum.
