Life is all about balance, and for Ellery Hollingsworth that meant keeping her education a priority, while pursuing a career in professional snowboarding. Lucky for Ellery, there are schools that help talented young athletes do just that pursue the dream.
Through her conviction to become a well-educated pro snowboarder, Ellery landed herself at Vermonts Stratton Mountain Academy (SMS), where mornings are spent on the books and afternoons are spent on boards, giving students the balance needed to make dreams reality.
Here is a glimpse into the life of your not so average teenager. Sure, Ellerys dorm room is seemingly normal and she attends study hall like everybody else, but in the afternoon class moves outdoors, and on this day in particular the curriculum included a jibtastic junkyard pile just waiting to be sessioned.
Ellery graduated from SMS in spring 2009, and is devoted herself to her (now booming) snowboard career. From making the decision to attend SMS to competing in Olympic qualifiers, Ellery has worked long and hard to get to where she is now a pro snowboarder living the dream.
