A very curious device. The rotor deposits charge in the surface of the glass pot and is repelled. But the charge leaks away fast if the pot is grounded at some point and the repulsion is continuous. Any asymmetry starts a rotation. A candle provides enough ionized air to drain charge from the pot and produce the same effect.

  • Possibly some charge over the wire insulation returning to the wire after you discharge it. If the cage is still charged, some charge may leak from it to the wire too, recharging it with opposite polarity, depending on the geometry.

  • I`m experimenting with a coil ,10 rounds of 4mm coper isolated wire, 10 cm of diameter inside a alluminum cage. I aply hv and charge the coil (anode to the coil catode to the cage) when disconect the coil and put a neon near of the conectors of the coil, a litle sparks jumps and lit the neon. when I touch the conector with the neon the coil discharge, but 2 seconds after if put the neon near it lits again. Why? some kind of electrostatic inertia? thanks for your help ;)

  • excellent video..chi spinner v high voltage...brilliant video.
