http://www.premierguitar.com PG's Joe Coffey is On Location in Van Nuys, CA, for the 2009 LA Amp Show where he visits the Red Jones Amplifiers booth. In this segment we get to hear from Red Jones' 18 and 45 watt heads. These guitar amplifier heads are based on Ken Fischer's Trainwreck amplifiers (both in circuitry, vintage parts and cabinetry), but feature many of Billy Yates' own preferences and appointments. Billy Yates (ex-Outlaws guitarist) uses a LSL Instruments 52.5 Aged T-Bone telecaster guitar.

  • @Kitarist88 Twas the JTM45 style amp. Thanks for asking!

@WolfStatic, thank you very much for your kind words.

  • On which model did the guy played here? sounds really nice!!!

  • 3:09 thats the stuff right there

  • Fender Pro Jr., particularly the USA made ones from the 90's. We have nearly 20 vintage tube amps and that newcomer totally holds its own and gets used plenty. I guess they go for about $350 (USA ones).

  • Billy Yates is one of the best guitar players I've had the pleasure of seeing live at the LSL Guitars party a couple of weeks ago. Great job Billy... you absolutely rock! Totally my kind of player!

  • thanks for the suggestion...as of the past 30 minutes i've been lookin at them and i'm impressed for the price. do you have one? is the tone good?

  • get a bugera there really good for the money

  • that sounds good...

and i'm sure the guitar didn't hurt either...

...man i'm stuck with a solid state marshall mg right now...lookin for an inexpensive tube amp...any suggestions? preferably not big brand, cause i know fender makes some good, sub 1000$ tube amps from their hot rod collection

  • The amp I am playing in the video is based on The 1963 JTM45 that I serviced for a private owner, but with some enhancements of my own. Mullard GZ34, EL34 and ECC83 tubes used. It rips.
