The F-35 is descended from the X-35, the product of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program. Its development is being principally funded by the United States, with the United Kingdom and other partner governments providing additional funding.[7] It is being designed and built by an aerospace industry team led by Lockheed Martin with Northrop Grumman and BAE Systems as major partners.[7] Demonstrator aircraft flew in 2000,[8] with the first flight on 15 December 2006.[9]

  • What a beautiful weapon

  • I love the euipment the U.S. Has in it's locker

  • @MegaBuckBuck1 The Harrier is hardly useless...I think it's proved itself to be more than capable enough for a multitude of military excursions....

  • They should have considered the same long wings for the A variant that they have for the C variant. That length of wings is required for the JSF to be able to utilize better lift without draining too much.

The B version is totally useless. It has sucked most of the funding and still not a concrete development.

  • While the VSTOL version is "nifty", it's a concept that has no validity in todays (or even 20 years ago) combat environment. Just follow the Harrier's uselessness. It cuts into load capability, range and endurance and it's easy to shoot down with the proverbial golden bb. Keep the A and C models and be done with it.

  • Robotech

  • @SuperBomber01

Usually ground attack aircraft are called Mud Movers, the F-15 is the Eagle, thus Mud Hen.

  • @EvilxMerlin Curiously, why are the E versions called Mud Hens anyway?
