the current that sucks you down is called Undertow current. Just relax and let it drift you out... it actually drags you under (not vertically) and pushes you out to the sea. You'll probably inflate your BCD and surface. Most death that occur are due to DIVER"S NEGLIGENCE and Panic. And there is no such thing as pro diver. Experienced Diver knows when and what to do under this conditions. you panic, you drown.

We experienced exactly the same thing and in Batee Tokong as well, and it looks like the same place! That current is evil! kicks in in less than 30 seconds !
