The zombies are downloaded and added through the server itself. I have played on zm_lila_panic(a zombie map) in a regular classic match before. No zombies were on it. It was a 24/7 lila panic classic server. That's because Black Ops was intended to have zombies. Counter-Strike originally wasn't. And the zombies are not powered by AI like the zombies in BO are. So they're player controlled. Meaning not programmed by the map itself. It's not like the zombies in L4D they're not built into the map.

@lolwut1337n355 There are mods for COD4 and the games before. COD4 is a lot harder than Black Ops and MW2. They removed weapon recoil in MW2. Dont get me wrong I am a huge Counter Strike player, but I like to get the best of both worlds. I just don't like the games after MW2.

Custom mapmaking does have mods to them, that's how you get zombies, there's no zombies in the original game. Uh, you're talking about one or two CoDs when there's a bunch of them. CoD has had mods since CoD1 and continue to have them, the later ones becoming less mod-able however. The newer CoDs made by Treyarch also have Nazi Zombies in the original game, which doesn't require complete modding to have zombies.
