I heard that the engineer mismarked the brace position that should go directly under the outriggers on the floor below, and they cought him remarking them in chalk in the correct position immediately after the incident. Tisk tisk.

This is the one at Newcastle Australia? The engineers had propped the lower floors and as far as I knew, they marked the top floor with X's for the outriggers. This crane couldn't be dismantled because of it's size (300t I believe) so they had to demolish the car park around it and go from there. It was one of the safety topics in my advanced riggers course.
