Cross Counter w/ Gootecks & Mike Ross (Biggavellii "Guile" vs Damdai "Ryu") SSFIV - S01E09

Welcome to Cross Counter! On Cross Counter Street Fighter vets Gootecks and Mike Ross are helping you step up your game by going over gameplay submitted by you the viewers. This week's match is Biggavellii's Guile vs. Damdai's Ryu. Please go to http://crosscounter.tv to submit one of your matches for a future episode of Cross Counter.

Match Analysis:

01:25 It's worth pointing out that Biggavellii plays Guile rather unconventionally. Most Guile players tend to play defensively, whereas Biggavellii really takes it to Damdai.

01:44 Missed opportunity to D+FP by Guile

01:49 Another opportunity to D+FP

01:52 Good ambiguous cross-up attempt by Ryu

00:54 Damdai may have thought that he had enough meter to go for EX Tatsu, which would have worked

01:59 After hitting his Focus in the air, Ryu could have done Shoryuken

02:04 Nice ambiguous cross-up by Damdai

02:18 Failed corner Sonic Boom lockdown, was probably trying to follow up with another Sonic Boom followed by FP, Backfist, throw or D+MK? For those trying to replicate this combo: Level 2 Focus Attack, dash, cr.MP xx Sonic Boom xx FADC, cr.LK, LP, cl.MP xx Sonic Boom, F+HP (260 dmg, 485 stun)

03:34 Have to mention throwing Sonic Boom and following it up with Shades which is: D+HK+HP

04:32 Probably should have done D+HP to counter the Tatsu. If you block the first hit, it's really hard to punish.

05:03 Arguably a waste of meter to FADC the HP because usually Guile wants to save it for EX Sonic Booms in a Fireball war or Wakeup Flash Kick FADC to get out of trouble.

05:32 Missed combo opportunity by Damdai. He was going for j.HK, cr.LK, cr.LP xx FP Shoryuken xx FADC - Ultra

05:46 BIGGAVELLii is jumping too much and gets caught by an Uppercut

05:59 Very impressive Focus Attack Dash Super right there to go through Damdai's Fireball. This is very hard to execute under pressure and takes a lot of practice to get right, but BIGGAVELLii clearly has put the work in. It's definitely not something you see all the time.

06:06 Smart risk/reward calculation by Damdai. Even if BIGGAVELLii would have blocked, the most damaging combo he probably could have done was cr.LP, cr.LP, s.LP, s.HP which does 000 points of damage and would probably tied it up.

09:19 Good attempt by Damdai to bait BIGGAVELLii into hitting a button. Any button press at that moment would have gotten beat by the EX Tatsu, kept Guile in the corner and allowed Ryu to sit on his lead.

09:45 BIGGAVELLii does jump back HK, cr.MP but misses the cancel into Flash Kick.

09:53 BIGGAVELLii does ANOTHER amazingly clutch Dash Ultra which goes through Ryu's Fireball for the win. WOW!

    fuckin nice

  • @nycSteREOtype69

    you're an idiot.

why the hell do you type like that?

  • @Beydude what personal action is it?

  • Gootecks And Mike Ross Are Hot Still See No Reason In Even Getting Into This Game.

  • MAx b!

  • Justin Killer? Wow that's real respectful guys...

I'm pretty sure Daigo raped both of them.

  • @JTcombomode There's a difference between calling a player scrubby & calling one thing they do scrubby. It's a scrubby combo b/c it ignores damage scaling. It does look cool though.

If someone goes for flashy combos during a game and fight someone with practical, higher-damage combos that is otherwise their equal the flashy player will lose.

Honestly most guile players don't even know about his b.hk combos and my first comment was to point out how good they are.

    PSN: MagmaFisher. Bring it.

  • @Link1209 Once again, you show your stupidity. I NEVER SAID IT WAS PRACTICAL. Think about it. Who is going to win more often, someone who does a few hits for more damage, or someone who knows how to successfully link combos like these? You used the word scrubby and you have NO idea what it means do you? A scrubby player wouldn't be able to pull that combo off at all. I could probably wipe the floor with you without breaking a sweat if you think this guy is "scrubby."

  • @JTcombomode God forbid I try to get people to do combos that actually do damage instead of hard combos that cost meter and do no damage.

Increasing damage output is an easy way to improve. Nobody should be fooled into thinking that combo they showed was practical - and this show is designed to help new players get better. They shouldn't waste their time on an 'advanced' combo that have no use.

This combo would be *dumb* to do in a competitive situation.
