The Prelude. Originally prepared for my music school audition, but they didn't even ask for it.

Using an Ibanez SR705 through straight into Line6 Gearbox.

New bass with new (clanky) strings.

  • I know its how the song was written, but I'm not a huge fan of the shifty tempo. I don't mind tempo shifts, but every measure... It just gets nauseating.

  • @joe97yo I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder. For me, I can't stand it when classical pieces, such as the Bach Cello Suites, are played with very little to no dynamics at all and at a speed that seems uncomfortable.

The fun part about being unaccompanied is that you get to screw around with time and tempo without getting glares, and being able to bring expression to a piece that is primarily straight 16th notes.

  • I really enjoyed your performance of this. Your sound and touch are great.

Curious about your sound....are the controls on your bass flat during this? Are you boosting mids and using mainly or only the bridge pickup? Most of my basses are the combo of Mahogany/Maple top with double-coils and I don't get the type of sound you achieve. Which I like!

Thanks and hoping your school experience is going well. I went to Berklee many years ago!

  • I think that you have the notes but you really dont understand the song

  • beautiful tone. excellent playing.

  • Great JOB. Nice sound too I love the Ibanez basses

  • Nice to hear zero fret buzzes. =D

  • @ZacharyBarreca No, unless you tune it to....C i think, I tried it on a 4 string standard tuning and it doesn't go low enough...You could try tuning you bass like a cello, but I tried that too and it's really strange...This song is a great excuse to buy a 5 or 6 string though ;)

  • I couldn't tell from the video but could this be played on a four string?

  • nice growl
