Another one of Mrs Zubairy's 'How to...' videos. Made for school children. Contains a short introduction to the concept of batik and then a quick start method of making a sample.

  • Vascinatumartierium, I will do some more reading, thanks. But have you noticed someone from China declares it's from China! Interesting debate seems to have been kicked off!

Anyway, you are right, in future I'll be a bit more rigourous before I post!

  • Ashleyflower, thanks for the further advice. Would like to share how you ARE supposed to get the wax off then?

  • Ok guys, I get the message, it's obviously from Indonesia! That's fine! I made this video some years ago now just to help my OWN yr 7 classes get off the ground level. It has been very useful for that and when I posted it for my colleague's use I had no idea it would take off so spectacularly. Apologies to the nation of Indonesia (I have visited actually!) I'm loathe to take the video down though as the instructional part has clearly been of use to quite a lot of people.

  • I can manage old fashioned and I'll take it as a compliment! Thanks for your comments - they are appreciated!

  • The narrater sound so old fashioned! Loved the bit about being careful not to splash wax on any soft sensitive parts of your anatomy! XD

  • Would you use this same process if you wanted to do batik on a leather piece? I was wondering how you'd pull the wax out without drying out the leather with the heat. Great video, thank you for sharing.
