Fortu trained at London Contemporary Dance School securing a scholarship from the Robin Howard Foundation. Back to England after his career, he awarded a Master of Arts in Choreography at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

He went on to dance with major Companies in Europe and worldwide such as: Euregio Tanz Forum in Holland, Opera Royal de Wallonie Liege, Movimento Danza Italy, Just Feel It Japan, as extra cast for the production Iphigenie auf Tauris for the Tanztheatre Wuppertal Pina Bausch at the Sadler's Wells London, Secret Cinema in UK and with Richard Alston where he learnt some of his repertory.

He has choreographed works for the stage as well as for television and has directed several professional training courses in Italy and abroad.

Fortu has a busy teaching schedule and regularly teaches in Italy, London Contemporary Dance School as well as at rAn Network in Florence where he is Deputy Head of the Contemporary Dance Company. A recent collaboration, which Fortu created and managed a fortnight performance and conference to promote dance as a curriculum subject at university degree level in Italy with two major international dance schools, the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the London Contemporary Dance School.




Fortunato ha studiato alla London Contemporary Dance School, assicurandosi una borsa di studio dalla Robin Howard Foundation. Tornato in Inghilterra dopo la sua carriera, ha conseguito una Laurea Magistrale in Coreografia presso il Trinity Laban Conservatorio di Musica e Danza a Londra.

Ha danzato con grandi compagnie in Europa e nel Mondo come: Euregio Tanz Forum Olanda; Opera Royal de Wallonie Liegi; Movimento Danza Italia; Just Feel It Giappone, Secret Cinema Inghilterra e con Richard Alston dove ha imparato e danzato alcuni brani del suo repertorio. Ha lavorato recentemente come extra cast al Sadler's Wells di Londra nella produzione Iphigenie auf Tauris per il Tanztheatre Wuppertal di Pina Bausch.

Ha coreografato per il teatro così come per la televisione e ha diretto numerosi corsi di formazione professionale in Italia e all'estero.

Fortunato ha un fitto calendario di insegnamento, insegna in Italia, London Contemporary Dance School, nonché per rAn Network a Firenze dove è, insieme a Sara Nesti, codirettore della Compagnia. Una recente collaborazione, che Fortunato ha creato e gestito per delle performances di quindici giorni e conferenze per promuovere la danza come materia curricolare a livello di diploma di laurea in Italia, con due grandi università della danza internazionale, l'Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts e la London Contemporary Dance School.
