I first heard of Mary Hamilton when I read James Mitchener's "The Drifters" in the early 1970's. Part of the lyrics featured in that beautiful book, and I always wondered what the story was behind the lyrics. A few years ago, I found a shorter version by Joan Baez on You Tube and it started to make sense. This full version fills in the gaps, and what a beautiful rendition of a classic song this is!
