This has to be one of the most beautifully cinematic movies that I have seen in the past decade. If you have half of a brain and an appreciation for storyline and art, you will enjoy this film. For those that commented negatively... I think that Eddie Murphy has a new movie coming out - you'll probably have an easier time with that.

This was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Despite the fact that the incredibly annoying visual style was hurting my eyes I did manage to make my way through the whole thing somehow.

i saw the movie a long time ago, didn't really get it. i ended up filling in the gaps myself. i think the plant thing was a science experiment the avalon corporation was working on to genetically enhance the speed of growth of plants, and to terraform deserts and stuff so that humans can flourish... and be beautiful... and live forever... etc etc... anyone else?

Yup... it's a shame. He was one of my all time favorites back in the SNL early days. He should go back to his old routine and blow guys like Dane Cook back into the ditch he came out of.

Eddie Murphy was required to go "nice guy" because of his contract with Disney. For a time there, you couldn't even purchase any of his old standup comedy because Disney wanted him to maintain a father-type-family-guy persona so restricted him from producing or advertising his "filth" comedy (which was much better than any Nutty Norbit Professor guy stuff IMHO.)
