POLYGLIDE FIFTH WHEEL PLATE
INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLATION
(1) Clean all grease from the 5th wheel plate-reduce to bare material.
(2) DISCONNECT THE BATTERY!!!
(3) Position both halves of the Polyglide 5th wheel plate; make sure to center it.
(4) Use C clamps to anchor the Polyglide firmly. VERY IMPORTANT As Polyglide must not be allowed to lift off the 5th wheel plate at the weld point during welding.
(5) Mig or Stick weld one hole at a time using a steel plate with a hole the same size as the hole in the Polyglide at the weld points. Cover each hole with the plate as it is welded. This protects the Polyglides plate surface from weld splash. VERY IMPORTANT Immediately cool the Polyglide after each weld with cold water keeping the temperature down off of the Polyglide plates bonding material to avoid damaging the Polyglide plate.
(6) Two steel bars, 7 x 3/16 x 1 are provided. Weld one at the bottom of each half of the Polyglide. These steel bars take the initial impact from the trailer as the tractor is backed underneath it.
(7) Reconnect the battery.
