Besides Melissa Pemberton, Ramón Alonso and some other performers, there was no doubt that one of teh starts of this year´s stars at Gijón (Spain) air-show was a Rafale; a foreign guest so hard to see over Spain; and even more over such an unusual place like the one it flew over...

  • love this sound! cool!

  • @CapLAGOS He! I had the feeling that you were going to say that X) Thank you! ;)

  • The 'personality' of the jet engine is not as much in the sound of it running, as in the sound of it starting.. I'd recognise the start up of a Saab J35 Draken anywhere.. :)

This looks like a beautiful aircraft, it still looks like an aircraft should look, in spite of being one of the most modern jets to date.. :)

  • If anything, at some angles this looks much like the Draken.. :)

  • @BasicModelling Yes, indeed :) But it IS a Rafale. The problem is with the resolution of the camera: the canard wings of the Rafale are so small, mostly at that distance, that are almost imperceptible as recorded with this (photo) camera.

I do have a videocam with a much, much better zoom, sound and image quality, but besides that I still don´t know very well how to use it, I just can´t watch in the computer the videos I recorded with it. And it´s a shame...

  • @BasicModelling Eeeerrr... Well, piston engines are also supposed to sound different from each other in their start (not only once running). Even more, I guess that different versions of the same (piston) engine also sound different (not so sure among jets, to my view...) For instance, the Pratt & Whitney R-2800 of a Wildcat certainly sounds different from that of a Hellcat, both in start and run. Thus, there will always be, as I see it, more sounds among pistons than among jets...

  • @AlanMartinNala I have the same problem, I bought a really good camera for money I got for my birthday a few years ago, and it has hardly been used, as it just won't work on the computer.. I bought it mainly for airshow videos as it has a very good sound uptake and a great zoom.. One day I hope to be able to use it.. :P

  • @AlanMartinNala Definetely.. I agree.. :)
