  • As for the criticism of others, one thing that has always stuck with me, Anne, is a saying by... oh no, I can't remember; so sorry, but the saying is this: It is better to write for the self and have no audience, than to write for the audience and have no self.

    That has always amazed me in its depth of insight. Often it is hard to accept that as absolute truth and incorporate that as a pure belief, but it is enough to keep me thinking perhaps there is hope for individuality in exceptional humans
